Start on Ubuntu: a beginner's guide

You do not need to know server commands or how GeekStream's internal components work. The finished experience will use one trusted GeekStream installer, one administrator approval, and then a private setup page.

Journey 1: a new cloud server

1. In your cloud provider's website, choose **Create a server**.

2. Choose **Ubuntu 24.04**, with either ARM64 or x64 support shown by GeekStream. Oracle is one example; GeekStream does not require Oracle.

3. Choose at least the supported storage and memory shown on the Requirements page. Keep the server private until GeekStream's secure remote-access screen is available.

4. Use the provider's approved GeekStream image or its single generated launch action. The public release must explain every click and may not require manual file transfer or command assembly.

5. Approve the one administrator request. GeekStream checks the computer, installs or reuses its required server components, verifies them, and opens the private setup page.

6. Finish owner setup in the browser. Provider credentials are entered only there and are stored securely by the Server.

Journey 2: an existing Ubuntu computer

1. Confirm the computer runs supported Ubuntu 24.04 and meets the Requirements page.

2. Download the single signed GeekStream Server installer from the approved release page.

3. Open the installer and approve the one administrator request.

4. Follow the same private setup page. GeekStream resumes saved progress after interruption.

Return later

Open **GeekStream Server** from the computer's application list or use the private recovery link saved by the installer. The Manager provides status, updates, backups, recovery, and uninstall. Uninstall preserves owner data unless you explicitly choose to remove it.

What you will never be asked to do

The normal journey does not ask you to compare hashes, edit networking rules, copy private keys, move archives between computers, edit configuration files, or understand internal service terminology.
